There are many findings indicate that the music effects on the human
organism on many levels, while pain is one of the most common complaints in the
clinical practice and is a symptom of many physical and psychological problems.
Pain is associated with negative emotions (depression, anxiety, frustration, anger,
fear) and with poor quality of live. This review investigated the effects of music
on feeling of the pain, anxiety, depression and on the quality of life in people with
selected pain problems of various origins. The article was based on the researches
that were published in the peer-reviewed journals. A literature research (2010-2015)
was carried out using the PubMed database. The above issues were discussed in
the following systems: music – pain, music – pain and anxiety and depression, music
– pain and anxiety in medical diagnostics, music – pain and analgesic therapy,
music – pain and quality of live. In most cases, there was clear evidence that music
interventions were effective in alleviating of pain (with accompanying symptoms)
and had positive effects on function and quality of life of many patients.
